Multi-Camera Recorder is a program that can record footage from multiple cameras simultaneously. This can be useful for international calls or high-level business dealings where everything must be recorded. The videos will be stored on your hard drive so that they can be viewed later.
Primary Features
Multi-Camera Recorder is made for recording through multiple cameras at once and it delivers in this aspect. You can set the program to simultaneously record from 16 different cameras. It can also take snapshots along with video recordings. There are also some options for customizing the recordings. You can change the resolution, aspect ratio size and where the videos are saved.
All videos are automatically saved in a VCR file format. This is an uncommon file type that few players can work with. Multi-Camera Recorder also has a tool to convert VCR files to AVI, which is much more common. The only downside is that you'll have to wait for the conversion process.
Difficult Initial Setup
Installing and using this program for the first time is somewhat difficult. This is a client-server program and you'll need to install both the client and server programs for this to work. You also need to coordinate the IP addresses between them to ensure the cameras will properly record. This might sound difficult, but it's not. The setup is fairly easy, but it is tedious and less tech savvy users might get frustrated with the initial installation.
You should only have to do this once. The program will remember all your settings for future recordings. You will only have to do this again if you add any new cameras. While it can be tedious, one good thing is that the program will instantly connect to cameras once you complete all the steps.
Recording Performance
The recording performance is unbalanced. It can be good if you only have a few cameras on a lower setting, but the performance suffers as you add more cameras or use higher settings. It can sometimes lag or look blurry. This might be an issue with critical calls or recordings. You can usually resolve this by using the minimum number of cameras on the lowest setting possible.
Typos
Another problem you will encounter is a large number of typos. The interface has many misspelled words and this can make installation and use much more difficult than it should be. You'll have to rely on trial and error when using this program to see what does and doesn't work.
If you do intend on using this program, then it's best to do a few test shots to ensure your cameras are recording properly and with the settings you want.
