Multi-Camera Recorder is a Windows program to record streams from multiple camera devices.
Multi-Camera Recorder by Minitool is a program that lets you record from multiple cameras concurrently. It was released during a time when such a feature was not common among webcam software. Multi-Camera Recorder set out to achieve a particular task and did so all right. It will let you stream from up to 16 webcams or other camera devices.
There are numerous webcam-oriented packages for Windows now, which makes Multi-Camera Recorder seem overly basic in retrospect. If basic was not bad enough, the program is just not user-friendly. It uses a client-server configuration, for instance, and requires you to install both the client and server and configure them to work together independently. The user interface is also not intuitive, and it took us some fiddling about just determine what everything was and how to get it working.
If you clear those hurdles, the program works well enough. The server will record up to 16 streams at the same time. You can use the client to view these streams, resize the videos and take snapshots. The client is not particularly well-optimized. Neither is the server for that matter. Even the user interfaces are littered with basic typos, and we experienced lags in the recordings, which is something we found that many other users have complained about as well.
Multi-Camera Recorder is provided free as a trial version. As far as we can tell, the trial is feature-complete and simply provides a certain amount of time that you can use it. After that period, you have to purchase a license to continue using it. There may be a problem with that, however, in that it seems that the developer is no longer maintaining the software or even selling it.
